Wow that must of been hard on you jays55rpw
John Cerutti was my uncle. I've never seen this logo and now use it all the time. It's quite an honor to show it.
This logo was worn as a sleeve patch throughout the 2005 Blue Jays season as a tribute to three former Blue Jays who had died during the off-season.
The patch honoured the following...
John Cerutti (JC) was a former Blue Jays pitcher and was the current television commentator for the team. He died on the final day of the 2004 season while sleeping at the hotel inside SkyDome (now the Rogers Centre).
Bobby Mattick (BM) was the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays during the 1980 and 1981 seasons but spent most of his time with the club playing a key role in scouting and development which eventually lead the team to five division titles and two world championships. Mattick died in December 2004 after suffering a stroke.
Doug Ault (DA) hit the first home run in Toronto Blue Jays history on Opening Day - April 7, 1977. Ault cemented his place in Blue Jays history by hitting a second home run that same game. While his playing career didn't last long, he spent the next two decades managing teams in the Blue Jays farm system, including the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs. Ault died on December 22, 2004 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
